În cadrul proiectului, au fost măsurate şi marcate trasee cu o lungime totală de 111,3 kilometri în Vatra Dornei (44,4 km; 6 trasee), Gura Humorului (39,2 km; 5 trasee) şi Suceviţa (27,7 km; 5 trasee), iar în fiecare din cele trei localităţi există câte un centru de închiriere de biciclete şi beţe de nordic walking. Cartarea a fost făcută cu ajutorul GPS-ului de partenerii germani.

Nordic walking-ul este o mişcare derivată din schiul de tură. Ea presupune parcurgerea unor trasee cu ajutorul beţelor asemănătoare celor de ski. Din punct de vedere al complexităţii, este al doilea sport după înot, solicitând masa muculară într-un procent ce ajunge la 90%. Mişcarea este bazată pe tot ceea ce face corpul în mod natural şi poate fi practicată la orice vârstă.

Proiectul denumit „NAP (nature active parc) turism – Bucovina – Parcuri de turism activ în natură în Bucovina”, desfăşurat în cadrul Programului de Vecinătate România – Ucraina, a fost implementat de Universitatea “Ştefan cel Mare” din Suceava, în parteneriat cu Societatea “Znannya” din Cernăuţi şi primăriile din Vatra Dornei, Gura Humorului şi Suceviţa.

Din valoarea sa totală, de 528.000 de euro, 90% din bani vin de la Uniunea Europeană (prin fonduri Phare) şi de la Guvernul României, iar restul de 10% reprezintă cofinanţarea beneficiarului, adică a Universităţii „Ştefan cel Mare”.

Licenţa pentru parcurile de turism activ a fost cumpărată de la Axel Kiefer, din Germania, cel care a dezvoltat conceptul de “nature fitness park” şi care asigură, în exclusivitate, implementarea programului în Europa.

Sistemul de semnalizare este acelaşi în toate parcurile din Europa, fie că este vorba de panourile pentru punctele de start sau de indicatoarele de pe traseu.

Câte 10 structuri de cazare pentru fiecare din cele trei localităţi au fost incluse în program. Ele au primit un certificat de pensiuni NFP: le vor oferi turiştilor informaţii şi vor promova acest tip de mişcare. În schimb, ele beneficiază de promovare gratuită pe site-ul german naturefitnesspark.de. Reprezentanţii celor 30 de structuri au primit un cod de acces prin care pot să-şi actualizeze datele pe acest site.

Mihai Hunea, de la Primăria din Gura Humorului, spune că Direcţia de Lucrări Edilitare, supervizată de Serviciul de Urbanism al Primăriei, va primi în pază şi întreţinere noile trasee. Deocamdată, oamenii au primit destul de bine amenajarea parcurilor: „E ceva nou şi lumea e curioasă”, explică el.
